chomping at the bit

Carry, I agree i am ready to go. We are going to start in two weeks from this Sunday. We have people who have asked us to give them just a little more time. So in two weeks we are going to start reading “The Heart of Christianity.” I think we would like to start with a little more user friendly book. Pete mentioned that you all are reading “What Would Jesus Deconstruct” is that right? Anyways we are very much looking forward to having this space together. Talk to you all soon, Jared

so, like, we ever gonna discuss this thing or wot? jayne and i would appreciate a date by which to have read some/all of the book to work toward and will be representing in the category henceforth known as, “those without a philosophy degree but with IQs somewhere above that of an invertebrate”. we can be recongised by a lexicon likely devoid of german and french words that lack adequate translation. Please allow me to introduce myself

LoserBaby February 11th, 2008

hey

continuing on the theme of introductions, i’m cary. hi to those i know, hi to those i don’t.

i have been living in belfast for 6 and 3/4 years. i’ve been involved in ikon for the best part of 5 of those years (i think). i had the pleasure of visiting Aldea in Nov/Dec 2007, along with Jonny and Pete. i’m currently seeing more of the Aldea crew than i am of the ikon posse. i’ll be in Tucson 2 March - 7 April.

looking forward to seeing what unfolds…

cary.

let me introduce myself

thejehn January 30th, 2008

im jennifer. a fairly new member to the aldea family.

i draw kitchens to pay the bills. i take photos and make art to keep myself sane. i would like to rebel much more than i actually do. how much i would love to love and not feel that i did it out of habit or duty. i play scrabble a lot, and often indulge in local eateries around town. you can often find me at the loft watching the latest french film.

when you speak of building community, i permit myself a furtive sneer, because i don’t want to hide from myself in the safety of your numbers – part of me still clings to the idea of being alone and in danger in the agony of solitude which i know and love. but this is me trying, giving it my all to be a part of your community. i will say, i am very excited to read these books as a group.

Happy New Year to y’all

Jayne January 8th, 2008

Hi there. Don’t know if y’all spreads as far west as you guys are, but happy 2008 anyway. My name is Jayne, as per Jared’s request to introduce ourselves. I am Belfast born and based, though not bred. I have really enjoyed the chance to get to know just a wee bit, some of the folks who have visited Belfast, and hope this online thing will help us develop the friendship. I see it is already widening the scope of long distance slagging of Pete!

Anyway, I hope to join in the book discussions, so better get on to Amazon soon! Stay warm and keep smiling.

happy new year

jared0220 December 31st, 2007

hello all. i just wanted to send a note to our “over the river friends.” happy new year to you all. i am looking forward to the friendship that births between us in the new year. jared

hello everybody

jared0220 December 19th, 2007

I wanted to say hello to everyone who recently registered. We are hoping to start discussing the books soon. We are waiting to give everybody who wants, a chance to get the books. Anyways until then, I was hoping that everyone would take the time to introduce themselves. my name is Jared, i am the one who broke Pete’s “gimme friction baby” high score. If you see him walking around in a somber mood, that is probably why. I am on staff at Aldea, I have four kids, and since I have already read Borg’s book I will be reading Caputo. I loved Borg’s book.  I think he occasionally comes off as a classic “modern-liberal theologian,” which to me is just the opposite end of the spectrum of fundamentalism, but most of the time I absolutely love Borg’s books. He really helped repaint the Christian story in such away that I was once again excited to be Christian. He has so many beautiful books. That being said i am looking forward to reading The Weakness of God. After reading summaries, reviews, and synopsizes I know I will love it. I am looking forward to reading with you all. peace, jared

you asked for it

jared0220 December 17th, 2007

Jonny, you asked for a random place for us to share life together, so here we go. We can use this space to share general things, like the fact that I beat Pete’s high-score on “gimme friction baby.” That’s right, Pete’s unbeatable score of 28 was demolished by my 38. I don’t want to start a community feud but the truth must be told. The “ball” is in your court Pete.

Jared (or better known as the current greatest player of “gimme friction baby” with in the ik/ea community.)

Randomness

jonny December 17th, 2007
