hello everybody
jared0220 December 19th, 2007
I wanted to say hello to everyone who recently registered. We are hoping to start discussing the books soon. We are waiting to give everybody who wants, a chance to get the books. Anyways until then, I was hoping that everyone would take the time to introduce themselves. my name is Jared, i am the one who broke Pete’s “gimme friction baby” high score. If you see him walking around in a somber mood, that is probably why. I am on staff at Aldea, I have four kids, and since I have already read Borg’s book I will be reading Caputo. I loved Borg’s book. I think he occasionally comes off as a classic “modern-liberal theologian,” which to me is just the opposite end of the spectrum of fundamentalism, but most of the time I absolutely love Borg’s books. He really helped repaint the Christian story in such away that I was once again excited to be Christian. He has so many beautiful books. That being said i am looking forward to reading The Weakness of God. After reading summaries, reviews, and synopsizes I know I will love it. I am looking forward to reading with you all. peace, jared
Word. I for one am just glad that somebody beat Pete’s score on that stupid game. I mean, come on, it’s about time.
Hey Jared. Amazon says that “Weakness of God” is in the mail. So hopefully I will have the book by next week. Let me know when you want to start reading it.
For those who don’t know me my name is Will and I have been talking with Jared about churchy/Jesus-y/theological, heretical stuff for a few years now. I am looking forward to reading the book and dicussing it with all y’all.
man not even the university library has the weakness of god, ssup wit dat yo?
Hi all! My copy of “Heart of Christianity” came from Amazon this week, and I’m ready to go when everyone else is. I’m Laurie, and I’ve been around aldea since ‘98. I teach math at the U of AZ, and I sing and serve on the leadership team at aldea. I’m married to Andy (an engineer, so he gets my strange sense of humor), and we have a little dachshund/chihuahua mix named Cocoa.
I grew up in church, and I used to think I had the answers. I guess it’s really true that, the older you get, the less you know…
I haven’t read any of Borg’s books yet, so I’m looking forward to this one.
